@Ian: I know that it’s a mammoth task, but look at it from this perspective: if browsers would only implement HTML5 when it’s finished, we’re looking at a status quo of 15 years. Fortunately they don’t, but that makes it only more confusing. In 10 years we’ll all be working with HTML5 or even 6, but we still have 5 more years to wait for the final spec. Then what’s the value of that spec? A history book?

The roadmap includes getting two complete and bug-free implementations, so if anything I think it’s rather optimistic. After all, we’ve never gotten bug-free implementations of any major Web standard so far…
