Designing the SkiMaps site3

When Plane Tree Software’s new iPhone app SkiMaps was reviewed and approved by Apple in a record time of two days, I had to scramble to get a website design up and running. But it’s live now, and I’m really pleased with the result. Earlier this week I also rushed the icon out of the door.

If you’re an iPhone user and happen to do a bit of skiing or snowboarding, check the app out. It allows you to download ski trail maps for offline use (try getting a signal on a mountain slope at 3000m) and find your location on the map thanks to the GPS and some clever positioning algorithms.

I went all the way with this one-page design, incorporating HTML5, RGBa colors, CSS gradients, CSS transforms and animations. Try it in a WebKit browser!
